REU participants are granted stipends, free room and board, and assistance with travel.

Participate in the first digital humanities project funded by an NSF-REU.

This project is jointly funded by Research Experiences for Undergraduates Sites, the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), and Human-Centered Computing.

This award reflects the National Science Foundation's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.

Information at a Glance

    • Accepting application between Monday, October 9th, 2023 through Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at 11:59 (Eastern Time).

    • Application is online, hosted through the ETAP.NSF.gov site.

    • Required Materials:

      • A personal statement describing your interest in digital humanities and how you see this REU opportunity advancing your future education and career.

      • An updated resume or CV.

      • An updated college transcript in PDF format.

      • One letter of recommendation.

    • Check-in: Wednesday, May 29th, 2024.

    • First day: Thursday, May 30th, 2024.

    • End-of-program Research Symposium: Thursday, July 18th, 2024.

    • Check-out: Friday, July 19th, 2024.

  • To be eligible for admittance to this NSF-REU opportunity, applicants must be:

    • interested in digital humanities,

    • are currently in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program;

    • have a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA;

    • are a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Permanent Resident.

    • are graduating either in or after December 2024.

      • Note: Those graduating from an AA or AS program in spring 2024 & entering a BA or BS program in fall 2024 are permitted to apply.
